The debate so far....

Deagon thinks people should be promoted to mod positions (ideally Daring-Motive) to make up for Lady's apparent departure from our ranks.

Effy contends that the forum has enough mods as it is, but she is frustrated by the fact that she is the only one who seems to be validating new members (though ILY has been helping out)

I agree with Effy, though she could definitely use a hand validating.

So what does everyone else think? More mods?

I think adding one more mod might work out. I mean if Effy needs a hand doing some of the stuff on here then it be smart to get a new mod preferably daring motive ('Cause he makes me sandwiches) so that she won't get frustrated over all the stuff that needs to be done.

Why Daring Motive? Just make Brecht a mod again or something.

I dunno, I wasn't a member then.

Daring Motive started out as a troll, make someone who's a regular a mod.
Wtf, since you started the thread and all, Chris why don't you just be a mod?

Yes, and no. I have no idea how much work the validation is, or what has to be done, in about, who is closed out, and who is not. I know though, people with multiple accounts due IP is closed out. Anyway. I've been a mod before, and I've made forums, and dealing with warnings, and new people here can't be such a job, 'cause most people here know how to handle a forum, but again, I've never been through how the validation rolls.

Then, yes, 'cause Effy, wants people to help out with Validation. And No, 'cause I think Effy and Sean might do the job well enough. But, I presume Effy starts getting tired of validation, and thats why she wants help, and I support that, so, why not?

I dunno about ME being a mod. For starters, there are people who have been here longer etc. who deserve it more than I do. I like this forum, and I'd like to help it out, so I guess being a mod wouldn't be too bad. But I'm not sure I've been here long enough.

I think we have enough mods, tbh. Sean is a mod to replace Lady, and Effy was to replace Brecht. If the other mods (Tahls and Lottie) would sign on more often, everything would be fine.

Yeah Acid would make a good mod. She has the whole no-bullshit attitude necessary to deal with rulebreakers

Nobody deserves being a mod. It's a matter of trust. Not about who's been here longer, and who has the biggest amount of posts, and who wants it the most. you must be there on purpose to help out. Don't overdo it though. Go by the rules, play the game.

See, look. Brecht's already getting back into his old mod ways. Finding other threads so people don't make duplicates, see! If he was a mod, he could merge these two threads.

I don't want to be a mod really, there's a reason I quit in the first place. I already spend too much time here anyway.
Just do it.

If the other mods never come on the site then why have them?
If they don't do anything and never help out them maybe they do need to be replaced and naraa's right it's not about who's been here longest or the post count it's who will actually get the job done and won't abuse the power they have. I'm new here so my opinion doesn't matter all that much right now lol

Pfft kids, they're so naive. Give them that mod status, let them feel how it's like to be a mod.

It has nothing much to do with your post count or the time you've been here. It's got something to do with whom other mods suggest. After I quit, I suggested Effy, she got the job. Lady left, ILY got the job. Dustin devilicious left, Matt took his place. 'cause Lottie and some other people suggested it, KileyKaos left, Tahls took her place 'cause lottie and some other people suggested it. Someone else left, I took his/her place 'cause some people suggested it. I think I might not even have a 1000 posts back in the time.

Yep, I believe I was only a member for three months when I got made a mod; it's all about who you know, so all you wannabie mods better start sucking up to the current ones, bitches :(

But anyway my thoughts again: I don't think we need a new mod, sure the validations are a pain but it's not that big a deal. If one of the other mods would just cover it whenever I'm busy -so the whole queue doesn't back up into hundreds of people- there would be no problem.

But on the point of inactive mods, it wouldn't hurt rid of some of them. If only for the sake of not having an moderating team full of people that the newer members have never heard of!
