Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band from McHenry, Illinois, formed in 1996. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Matt Skiba, bassist and vocalist Dan Andriano, and drummer Derek Grant. To date, the band has released six studio albums. Their seventh studio album titled This Addiction, is due for release in February 2010. Alkaline Trio was formed in December 1996 (see 1996 in music), originally consisting of Matt Skiba (guitar/lead vocals), Rob Doran (bass/vocals), and Glenn Porter (drums/vocals). They all hailed from McHenry, Illinois, in Chicago's Northwest suburbs. 1997 saw the release of the band's first EP, Sundials. This was followed shortly after by the departure of Rob Doran, after which Dan Andriano, former singer of Asian Man Records band Tuesday and bassist for Slapstick, took his place and they began recording. The band released their second EP entitled For Your Lungs Only, in 1998, which began to build them a sizable fanbase in the American Midwest. Later on that year, the band released their first full length album, Goddamnit, followed by Maybe I'll Catch Fire in 2000 (both on Asian Man Records). Also in 2000, the band released a collection of their previously released EPs on their self-titled album.

I agree. Though I love Alkaline Trio to bits, Green Day will always be my favourite band.

I dislike Alkaline Trio and the only Green Day I really love is pre-Warning.

Still, I would take Green Day over Alkaline Trio.

My opinion of you all is deteriorating quickly. Except Sunshine because he likes Lucky Star, therefore he can never do wrong :P.

I swear, if I had a child it would be Konata. But wait, that would make me her "weird" father. Oh well.

I grew up with Green Day, every single song is associated with a memory for me. So they're not likely to be dislodged as my favourite band anytime soon.

The lolicon father XD. That would suit you perfectly, plus you'd easily buy dating sims for your daughter.

I really really really don't like Green Day =\ they haven't played one song that moved me in the least bit. Alkaline however, is so easy for me to relate to. and you can hear the influence of Jawbreaker and Smoking Popes heavily. two more amazing bands

I remember when I first heard "Dookie". Still one of my favourite albums from my teen years. Maybe that's why I really hate their new stuff.

See that's what I like about Alk3, even though their sound changes in every album they are still awesome, plus they are outstanding live.

Green Day on the other hand changed and didn't do too well in the change. Although, I quite enjoyed American Idiot even though everyone was pissy about it.
