I wonder what Ryan would say to getting rid of the old 'Radio Music' section. The radio stopped working before I became a member, I think, it serves no practical purpose now.

I could set it to read-only, but there's not much point either way.

May I resubmit my application for the post of co music mod? I have some ideas to keep the music section fresh and interesting.

I'm still going for demolishing everything & starting again. We just aren't really advertising to the type of users we want. Fair enough we could stop flaming n00bs & allow everyone on, but then the rest of us will leave because it will just get ridiculous. None of us even listen to much original emo music nor even bands which are considered emo these days.

I think organising the forum a bit better would probably get a better start.

Become a generic music type forum? Not, generic as in the forum, but as in not being dedicated to one small subgenre. Kill the scene and anti-emo sections, merge the love into a general discussion, and give more of the genres of music their own sections instead of being sub-sections in the other section.

Most people avoid the music section because in the past posting a band in the wrong section resulted in being flamed and having Ryan swing the ban-hammer.

Have Music, General Discussion, Games, Entertainment, and Creation sections. This would take a lot of work but we could bring in more people wanting to find out about music and the entertainment section could become more useful for films, television, and of course, Anime.

i can see their is a lot of support for re invigorating the site, i likes this !

and may i second chris for the co-music mod

i mean he knows his stuff and is "gentle" with the n00bs

it really doesn't matter how many mods we have, in fact the more the merrier

the only qualification you need is ability and willingness

chris has both !!!!!

Oh fuck the topic: any ideas on drumming up some activity?

One important thing that you can do is to make a rule and make old members stop flaming newbies and actually encourage them to post!! I think this is the main problem of this website. I once opened a ''suggestion thread'' and instead of being helped I was flamed! I decided to leave this place, however, I'm horrible at leaving forums so you're very lucky to have me!

Anyways. I think the admins and mods that are not active should be removed and be replaced by old members who are active and worth being a mod, and the mods who are active and worth it, should become admins!

Give some order to the forums. There are too many sections. Instead of having different sections for musics I think there should be only ONE section of music. That way mods and admins wont have trouble with moving this and moving that, and newbies can actually post in the right section and not be flamed. Do the same with other sections as well. you know it's not a fun thing when you join a website and try to make friends and share your ideas and other people tell you to fuck off! You get bored of it and join other forums!

Make fun secitons. For example make a best art/writing/poem section and move the threads that are worth being in that section (EC has it, you have no idea how hard I try to make it to that section!! :3 though one of my photography threads already has ^_^)

The mods and admins are the role modles here! I have seen people and memebers following you guys faithfully falming when you flame and admiring when you admire! Try to teach them to be nice to new people that join :) like sunshine said new memebers might be cool!

I think we should have a section for newbies! Where they can start by introducing themselvs and chatting to other noobs. Make a thread about the rules and pin it!

Try to make compitition threads, either music, pictures, drawing, writing, etc. Get the members you have to be more active and get involved with it! It gets fun over time!

That's all I've got to say for now! Consider it and tell me what you think!! I will share other ideas if anything comes to mind! ^_^

P.S. seriously :( it's so sad how I post in a thread and come back the next day and see that my post is still the last post there! It takes days and days for someone to actually post something! It makes me sad! :(

Edit: Oh and please lock REALLY old threads, because it's useless to advice or I don't know talk to the OP who's not active anymore! Ofcourse I'm talking about the advice and I'm looking for a girl/guy threads, not about threads like CHAT, etc.

That would be mainly up to Ryan, and we can't really consider it until after any major changes. I'm keeping it in mind though.

The problem with starting everything again is that this is still a forum of an emo website, so it would have to be moved to a new domain etc, meaning that we might as well start a new forum and all leave this for the scenesters, but I don't want that.
A more general music forum is a good idea though, although perhaps more sites (like the luv-emo main site) should point to it too then, for various genres, to get more members.

We don't need any new mods with the current amount of members.

We have tried competition threads before but only a few people entered. Maybe if we had more members then it would be something to consider. Having a best section could cause controversy (I'll check out EC) and what's good can depend on each user. We could have a nominations thread I guess where people post about any good threads they think could be put in there though; that might work.

I have changed a lot (I think) since becoming a mod and try hard to be kind to the newbs. I know I could improve a lot, but just to let you know, I am working on it. Sunshine and Naraa are probably a bit nicer than me too.

There is a thread for newbs to say hi and tell us a bit more about them. It is stickied in the relaxation corner. Also, the rules are stickied in EVERY SECTION.

One suggestion that I have that isn't to do with gaining new members is making the games section (or a subsection of it) not increase your post count as a lot of people will post every minute on there and fill it up with nonsense. I know that that's what a lot of mine were.

Yeah, well, when you are so used to flaming it is hard to not flame people. That and some people just need to be driven away. Oh well. I guess the mods do need to do a better job helping out.

And I agree with making Chris a mod. A full mod. He has the skills and is knowledgeable about a lot of different bands and music genres.

It is hard, especially after not having the responsibility of not flaming them for over two years. lol

I remember saying that I would keep it in mind before, but I kind of forgot about that. However, after this change then I do think he should become a music mod, or a full mod if we need one. We don't atm though.

Edit: Al posted before me.

mmmm ok! and yes I love the nomination thread idea!

That's great :) keep up the good work! We could actually have a flame thread where people can flame each other and not be offended! That way the ones who d like to flame could post there ;)

Yes I know we could have a seperate section for that. we can make it a subforum of the ''suggestion'' section..? and just like anyother section we could have the rules in that section as well :3

It would probably be a good idea as newbs may PM them for help etc. I will do it now. If they come back and want to be mods again, someone can change it back.

I will set up the nominations/best work thing later if other people think it is a good idea.

There is a WHOLE SECTION for that: The Warzone.

Why the suggestion section? I don't think so though. On most other forums I get annoyed by the "Introduce yourself" sections. Also, for existing members to say welcome etc to everyone that posts becomes a lot more effort having to browse through various threads.

Well perfect :) <3

ahhh see there's no need to go around and flame people in other section then. Maybe make a rule for that so that people know they can't flame people posting out of the Warzone section? ;)

I could make that rule, but people wouldn't follow it. The same as people don't follow the rules that would stop them from being flamed in the first place.

You said yourself that there are too many sections. That would not help.

Double post, I know. Deal with it.

How about more (/different) user ranks? At the moment they go like this:
Emo Poseur 1
Emo Wannabe 50
Lost Emo 100
Advanced Emo 150
Emo Addict 200
True Emo 250
250 posts can be gained fairly quickly, and you can't add a custom member title until 600 posts or so (this was put up a couple of times).

It was just an idea. The main reason was the large gap between getting the highest rank and being able to set a custom title.

Edit: We currently have 42 guests viewing the board. We need to make more of them members.

Edit 2: Would the best of creation section be one that contains writing, iamges, and music, or a separate one for each of those? Your opinion on the best of section in general Al?

Wrong. The mods have a greater right. Actually, it's a responsibility. Otherwise it'd be full of spammers and trolls.
