I would support this though. Really. That way we can at least keep some of the people and then help steer them towards the other music threads. I mean we are, after all, an emo forum. Why not just cater to what draws people here in the first place. The front page of Luv-emo screams scene.

Putting BvB, BMTH, and P!ATD in the same section is not a big improvement over the current situationwhat i would suggest is having a Pop-Punk section inside the punk section, and Having a -core section inside the others section, with possibly including a scene section for bands like Blood on the dance floor or some shit

This is true, but I think organising threads by genre lines is somewhat counter-productive. It would be better, I think, to keep 'scene' bands together, as they attract a similar fanbase, rather than scatter them to the four winds where they are forgotten about. How many newbs would actually go into the punk section in search of discussion? If I were a fourteen-year-old scene kid, I'd be more likely to just start a topic about Black Veil Brides in the 'emo' section than seek out the right one. It's all about countering elitist flame-wars and promoting healthy discussion.

I realize this is primarily an "emo" site, and has it's responisbilites to keep emo AND scene music fore-front, and that genres like metal, hardcore, punk, and indie are also important to keep separate as popular teenage genres, but let's face it, try getting into a good school for music with such a limited scope of music. To the point, I'm just afraid giving Scene it's own subform, on it's own, is a great idea, but especially with it having it's own mod "just because he suggested it", will cause a wave of genre-form suggestions that all-in-all probably don't even deserve they're own forums because they only matter to the people that listen to them. In my opinion, genres that are more inclusive than exclusive should be the first to gain headway over genres that are only minor developments over already set genres; ie, there's no use describing the 20+ sub-catagories of "punk" when they're all pretty much the same garbage when looked at from a classical music perspective, which in and of itself has 20 different sub-genres nobody knows about because they don't really matter either.

While I would love to see a post-punk and/or New Wave section, it would be pretty much unused. This site is advertised extensively as a 'scene' website, when, in fact, 'scene' bands are hardly discussed in any kind of positive way. To attract and retain new users, it's wise to promote discussion on things they want to talk about.

As a mod, I'd keep everyone in line, newbs and regulars
We'll sticky some threads about expected etiquette in the Scene section, and maybe we could change the tagline on the 'Emo' section to read 'For discussion on Emotive Hardcore and its derivatives.'

No, they belong in the slander section, except for Weezer who are gods of awesome.
Having said that, if were going to genrefy everything, even the stuff from the slander section, then WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING A SLANDER SECTION
The slander section can encompass all genres, any band in the world could be put in there and it would be legit

Oh, so they were originally in other sections and then moved to slander?
I get you, but, seriously, isnt that a bit like imposing on people's freedom of speech or something?
