Ok, seriously. Rescue Me is absolutely unbelievable.
If, like me, you thought it's just a stupid tv show about firefighters in New York, you'd be wrong. It's fantastic, a weird mix of black humour and blacker tragedy. The main attraction is that it balances these two opposing extremes perfectly, the show plays out like real life in this respect. There's humour and heartache, but not too much of either.
The characters are top-notch. Denis Leary plays my idol, Tommy Gavin. (Irish-y, check, stylish sunglasses, check, loves whiskey, check, babe magnet, I wish). A firefighter emotionally scarred by the losses of his collegues in 9/11, he's too macho to express his problems verbally. Haunted by visions of his dead friends, he seeks solace at the bottom of a bottle, all the while trying to win back his ex-wife and kids.
The supporting cast are likewise fantastic, and you'll get to know Lou, Gerry, Sean, Franco and Mike like they were your best friends.
The show touches on some heavy topics, not least alcoholism, drug addiction, alzheimers, rape, blackmail, paedophelia and death. Despite this, the show can be strangely uplifting, and an expert usage of music at crucial times hammers home the fact that this is no ordinary show.
Watch it. Watch it now.

Oh, you hate me.
It's not on in Germany actually. Not that I know of.
Is it better than House?

Ugh, get out of my life Lady
But seriously, that sucks that it's not in Germany. Have a look for it on Alluc.org, I think they should have the first series up there.
It's different to House, it has a better developed core of characters, but you don't get the variety of problems you have in House. They're really different to be honest, they've both got black humour, but Rescue Me is probably blacker. I just noticed that both House and Tommy get hooked on Vicadin at some stage, very strange. I'm actually watching series 2 of House right now!

I watch it. I like it. It sucks that it airs so late here in Sweden.

I guess I could do that, but I don't like streaming longer video clips, since the quality usually sucks. Another option would be to download it, I guess, but I´m not to keen on that either, especially since it's not my favourite show. I just watch it when I have trouble sleeping. Speaking of Rescue Me, episode 9 starts in 2 minutes. The clock is 01:28 over here.

Plays once a week on showcase here in Canada.
I love this show, I remember the one episode I watched a while ago.
They have a penis size contest, everyone there joins in but the one guy, I forget his name.
Then a penis ring gets stuck on Franco [I think] and has to get sawed off.
Then the guy who didn't join into the compitition died.
At the funeral his two ex wifes [each incredibly hot, keep in mind he was in his fifties] are there.
They say in his honour let him join in on the contest and they each say 9 inches. and he wins >.<

Yeah, I know that episode, it's a good one.
Just thinking, the show might be a little more slanted towards guys than girls, no?

Dammit. I started reading this and was thinking "hmmm, sound pretty interesting", then noticed it was 3 years old.
I will be looking for a torrent of this, sounds like it could be good.
