wat

I'm not so sure you know what the word stereotype means.

See, here, perceiving that a set group (individuals that more or less categorized in the same box) does/thinks specific things that are commonly associated with them (which are determined by commonality) is stereotyping. For example; black people steal bikes. Or non-emos beat emos up. Those are stereotypes. But if you say "beating somebody up for being a stereotype is also a stereotype", we can branch it a bit: The act of beating a person or emo(those two words are mutually exclusive) is NOT a stereotype.
I see it as a stereotype. The group acts as we expect it. We expect that those who don't fit encounter aversion. Therefore, it's a stereotype. See my point?

If you meant that, then your sentence didn't make sense.

'cause the act of beating is not the act of percieving. You could've said "conforms to a stereotype" instead of simply "stereotype."
And what stereotype are you talking about?

The stereotype of a semi-aggressive majority.

Well, I think I already made clear a few months ago that English isn't my first language, and I'm not that used to it. It's quite difficult for me to express myself in a language I seldomly use, so be patient.

And by the way, I don't like the side parting people either

i have personaly never been beaten up for anything. im normally the one that beats other people up, but never because of a stereotype. im more punk then emo. but dont think that all punks are like those bastards that beat u up! and wat everyone is saying about not acting like ur emo so u wont get beat up, YOU ARE WRONG! don't act like a different person so that you won't get beat up. you have the right to be, act, and dress however the fuck you want. you should have faught back!
I didn't say that people should change the way they dress or the way they act. I only said that I don't understand why people put more accent on what they show than on what they feel and think.

(Did I really type less before... srsly?)

And what's the issue with conforming to said majority?

If that's not an issue, I'm not so sure why we're talking then.

Well, I have. Twice. Once in May and another time like.... not so long ago. I went bowling with my cousins, Selena and Drake (twins) who are also emo, and a year older then me. ANyway so Selena goes french lessons and after her there is this punk rocker dude that goes as well. SHe doesn't really know him, she just saw him a few times. Anyway so this guy was there with us, and we were getting ready to leave and that punk rocker dude and these other 5 guys came to us and they were like hi, we said hi back to them but we were kinda weirded out cuz we didn't really know them. They asked us how old we were and I said 14 and Selena and Drake said 15. They told us they were 17 and then asked us if we are emo. We said 'yes' and Selena stepped forward and asked them if they got a problem. They said yes and threw on the floor and started kicking her. Me and Drake went to help her but they started kicking us as well. And now my hip feels like shit thanks to those basturds. Another time some dudes bashed a glass bottle on Drakes head cuz he's emo. I can't take it anymore. I'm scared as hell to get out of the house and it actually makes me cut myslef. I can't tell my mom cuz she is probably gonna go to the police but I don't want this to happen again!

yea i got glass bottles in the face still got the scars , iv been beaten for it here aswell
i just desided to biuld myself up to defened how i dress and act eta
it has been crazy the shit iv been throw becuse of a bit of make up and a fringe

Because your idea of "emo" doesn't exist. Don't call yourself emo and you won't get hurt. It's as simple as that.

Yes. It happens a lot. People seem to reject me in my entirety. It's almost as if the people who hurt me do it to try and express dominance over me. I'unno. I don't look into it too much any more. It's just so boooorrrrrinnnngggggg. They don't even make me bleed :P
