Besides, that was funny.

and in response to the discussion about not being allowed to work somewhere due to tattoos, that's why i'd never get a super-big or super-visible one... although i was asking my dad about getting one on my wrist (still inked in in sharpie right now! xP) and he was like "i'd be very disappointed in you. VERY disappointed." and i was just like what..?
and oh random but are small ones coverupable with make up base/coverup?

Where I work now has a problem with facial piercings (apparently its health and safety), well mine so I keep saying that I'm being discriminated against until they make other people take theirs out, but they dont say anything about tattoos really. I have my wrists done and other guy has 30 seconds to mars symbols on his arm but nothing is said really.
Also I have found that tattoos cant be covered up with the foundation stuff I use, but it's not expensive so a more expensive brand may work better. When I have to cover up my tattoos (such as in job interviews) I tend to wear a big cuff on my wrist.

It's a fun bit of trivia, but being tattooed is now covered under discrimination laws in America. You cannot legally be denied entry into jobs because you have tattoos. The loop hole here is that some religions have used tattooing as part of their practices.

Hm, do you know if this is true of all 50 states and whether or not personal philisophy (as opposed to religion) can be used as a valid reason for being tattooed? Also, could it be that one is allowed to have tattoos, as long as they are covered up?

ah. well.. at least it's gonna be a small one. the interview people shouldn't mind.
and anyway, i'm only 90 or so percent sure i'm gonna get it.. but this thread has pretty much made me want to get it even more hehe. i'm still inking it in every other day because i'm cool like that ;)

Well, depending on the job, that is reasonable.

Why don't you use henna? It'll last longer than ink, you won't have to do it every day.

I really think that you'll have a nearly impossible time positing a personal philosophy as a legitimate exception to employment barriers. What's at issue (and really it simply becomes a lawyer's game at this point) is that according to Title VII, certain discriminatory practices are forbidden in the workplace, amongst those are religious types. So, an employer can't fire me because I'm a Mormon, but he may or may not be able to because I have a tattoo. Many people have challenged their firing, claiming that they belong to one religion or another, one common religion being the Church of Body Modification (no, I did not make this up). These pieces of law are strictly a matter of judicial review, thus, until one of these cases goes to the Supreme Court, the laws are going to be applied on a state by state basis.

I love them, and like the weird dude I am I think they are very attractive on women ;)

I have an Heart Tattoo, on my chest got it on my 18th (23-11-2008)

The Heart represents my love,
The broken devide shows love ache
the Vines are me trying to fix my heart
and when it tries to heal, it is still scared by the Forns (memories)
but it still can grow and blossom (rose)
the Flame is my burning passion in love
and the colour blue shows how my love will be frozen for some one :D

I love your tattoo Benjy. My ex had something like that on his shoulder in honor of his mom.

I love tattoes as long as they're tasteful. I'm thinking of getting either a black heart on my hip, or the words "survivor", idk where though. I was going to get on last year for my 15th birthday (with my mom's permission) but I had a bad infection and was really sick, and since I already have a very compromised immune system (I have lupus and celiac disease), I was told it'd be smarter to wait.

I like them, but I don't have one.
I'd much rather get a piercing than a tattoo.
But one of my friends is getting a dragon on his right shoulder blade.

My brother has a tattoo of a thistle on his chest, a pattern on his forearm, and his daughter's name on his other arm.

If I was to get a tattoo....probably an eagle across my chest, and a fuck off sized tattoo of two dragons fighting.

I have to wait till I move out before I get mine. =[

I'm already 18, but I don't wanna piss of my parents. They'll provide me with a car and money.

I want hearts of some kind on my wrist or ankle...
maybe a star
It would be really small though..
probably just an outline with a bit of color.
Im not into big tattoos.
I want a tattoo, but I will force myself not to get them.
even if my parents let me.
The reason?
At first I am gonna love it.
But then I am just gonna get tired of it.
I'll prolly hate it because it will get too simple.
I change my mind quickly.
Really quickly.
And get tired of things fast.
Then I wont want the tattoo anymore.
I'll find 9789674654 different tattoos I'll want.
And if I got them I'll just not want them eventually.
So no matter how badly I want a tattoo, I wont get it.
I'll just get tired of it and not want it anymore.
My mind never makes itself up.

I always considered getting one on my wrist, just like a song lyric or song name or something thats meaningful.

Before that I always wanted one around my hip, but now have decided against it, because it stretches when you get pregnant and turns out fucked.
