hmm most of time its really hard to sort musicians to specific corner...they change so fast and often their music, attiude, style..what ever.

hmm would say some harder pop-rock with punk influences.

Oh, but sometimes I like it. Queen for example.
But when someone like Jeanette says she loves Metal and has all of Metallicas CDs at home - that's just ridiculous.

I never thought of them as 'punk'-ish. . .But then again, the only punk I've ever listened to was hardcore. XD

I'm more interested in Gerard than the music itself. I get more of a rise watching their music videos than listening to their music. I figure it's because he's one of those few people that I can relate to on 'that' level.

I haven't listened to their first CD as of yet (one of these days I'll get around to buying it). Honestly - I'm somewhat disappointed with The Black Parade. They're moving more towards typical pop, especially with I Don't Love You. To be honest, the only song that I could really listen to over and over again (with the exception of Blood (and did anyone else notice that the chorus is disturbingly similar to the chorus of Mr Sun?)) is The Sharpest Lives. And interestingly enough, I've been trying to write songs like that for years.

If they release any more songs like I Don't Love You, I might just stop listening to them. Part of the appeal of the music was the metaphor, the references to blood and bleeding (I am sick twisted creature yes), the references to death. . .And I've always liked music that sounded different from everything else, because everything else just melts into the background for me.

Actually I've been watching some interviews on YouTube and it has been a bit...idk...not really shocking, but...Makes me think "I wanna meat that guy!" I know that sounds like crazy fan-girlish "I wanna have your baby"-screaming. But that's not what I mean. I would honestly like to meat such a guy. Hard to explain... My age, dresses in black, likes rock music (but not only one genre), vampires, bats, plays D&D, etc. I mean, can't I just have a guy like this in my neighbourhood? (Or perhaps I have and just don't know)

It reminded me much of Lazing on a sunday Afternoon mixed with Julia und die Räuber.

I get what you mean by the Black Parade being perhaps a bit more mainstream (though, like I said, I don't know the others).
But honestly, I don't care if a band is making money with it or changing styles or sounding more mainstream or getting softer or whatever - if I like it, I like it. I'm not gonna stop listening to some music because others listen to it, too.

Yeah, I get it. The level that I was referring to was that I can relate to him based on how much pain we've both gone through. That's never happened to me with real people before. . .

The style I fell in love with when I started listening to them was the style of their second CD. Poppy sounding stuff all fades into the background for me - I don't really like any of it, unless the song is crazy original. And if they change their style to the more poppy stuff, I will stop listening to them. Because they won't be making the music that I loved anymore. I don't give a rat's ass if they make money or if lots of people listen to them, either - I'm not a music elitist who goes "OHNOEZ MAH BAND IS POP-ULAR NOW TEENYBOPPERS ARE GON' START LIS'NIN'". I just know what I like.

Ok, sorry if I upset you.
But I know that it's sometimes difficult not to feel like that for "old fans". Not just with music (I felt a little bit like that with LOTR).
"Black Parade" was the only album they had at the local library. I'll buy Revenge if I can find it cheap somewhere.

Honestly, I feel like at a certain age those guys just...vanish. I don't know. Ten years ago I knew some people like that (though even back then most of them were about 3 years younger). But now...

MCR has had an effect on every fan life i know that some fans who are not like true fans only go to watch them just to cause trouble so i don't see why they are allowed to even get sold a ticket i do feel sorry for the band half the time cause they might think there music is great but some people just slander them

During the first two CDs, Gerard had a big drinking problem. Especially in the beginning, when they only had their first CD with Eyeball Records (I can never remember if it's I Brought You My Bullets or You Brought Me Your Bullets. . .). I think it got really bad again when they were touring after Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, but lately he's been doing his best to stay sober. Not only all that, but I believe he attempted suicide at one point.

Yeah, I read about the drinking problem somewhere and I thought you were referring to that. *hugs.you* Didn't know about the suicide attempt though, but about depression. I appreciate people being open with their depression (like Brian May, too). Like I said before, I think it's a very misunderstood illness and it has to get out of the tabu zone. Oh, I'm getting slightly off-topic...
Saw him with an X on his hand in some video. Isn't that the sign for that "straight" stuff, no alc, no drugs and all that?

well every band has influence on their listeners life, don't they?


and why do you feel sorry? i don't think they care bout what others say, and also, there are always ppl who are slander. no matter which kind of music. as long as they have their prodcutive backgrounds, friends, fans & family. there is nothing to be sorry about. look they are successful, which puts the biggest sign of them making good music. maybe if they wouldnt sell much, and they wouldnt have their fanbase & so on...they would be to feel sorry for...

Technically, the sign for being straight-edge is three X's, but it's also been represented as one X on the back of each hand (if I remember correctly). It might mean he's straight-edge, and it might not.
