Has anyone else checked them out before? my fav band btw :)
their music has changed through out time progressing into different genres

Answers That and Stay Fashionable
HardCore Punk - High School Football Hero
This album is quite funny tbh

Theres also 'Very Proud of Ya'
HardCore Punk - Two of a Kind
This one started to become more serious

Again still in the same genre
HardCore Punk - Ph Low

One of the favourit to many old school AFI Fans
Black Sails on The SunSet
Punk Rock - God Called In Sick Today < If you want something heavier look for a different song
They started changing a lot from this album due to the new guitarist (Jade Pudget)

Art of Droning
Punk Rock - Total Immortal < One of my favs <3

Sing The Sorrow
Alt-Punk/ Punk Rock - The Leaving Song, Pt. II
Their music became more melodic and peacefull with less heavy vocals

December Underground
Alt-Rock/ Pop-punk style
Miss Murder - for the more alt-rock style
or Kill Caustic - for the a bit more of their original punk roots

I hope I managed to include a new fan

peace out :diablo:

I love AFI and have for about 4 years now but id hardly class them as punk, i dont really know what id class them as to be quite honest though. I relate them with the 'goth' scene but their not really stereotypical goth music, i dont know really, some of their early stuff is a bit more punky and in your face than their newer, slower stuff but yeah, still wouldnt really say their punk.

first of all. . ."alt punk" is the stupidest term i have ever heard.

afi went from a medicore band, to a pretty good one (black sails), then became the scum of the earth. end of story. i feel bad for their original fans.

I know but as they changed so much their genres have, and in the begining they were truly punk, I find they were more Gothic in STS period tbh

okay would you want me to class them as punk like Misfits and The Clash, because there are extremly different from the genre true punk

they went from a good band (beggining), to a better one (Black Sails) then they became more main stream (STS+) but they are still a quality band none the less.

I listed my recommended songs by albums at the top,
and the different genres of the album,
what you like will depend on what album you listen to =]

first of all, punk IS alternate music, and its less of an auctual style of music, that it is a view on how the music should be made and presented.
and the misfits were hardcore, not straight punk. (and the real Misfits only existed with Glenn Danzig, the band now caled "the misfits" just has the rights to the name and songs. and to make merchandise)
anyway. . .
AFI is just an edgy mainstream rock band, who has made some good stuff in the past. when they played hardcore (first album) they sucked, and had to move on to make their own sound, (that wasent punk) but was pretty enjoyable.

also AFIs music isnt goth, and never was,. . goth music= Christian Death, Sisters of Mercy etc. .

yeah Gothic imagery is kind of a matter of opinion. i do agree that afi had a gothic influence/vibe at one point, but mostly in their image, not their music.

I love AFI, I've been listening to them for a couple of years now. My favourite of theirs would have to be Miss Murder. :(

pretty much all 8th grade was spent between AFI's "the art of drowning", Millencollin's "Pennybridge Pioneers", and Goldfinger's "Hang ups." but I had to jump ship when "Sing the Sorrow" came out. it didn't seem like the same Davey I knew and loved
