BB-Code Basics:
BB-Code allows you to format your text, and to add image, links, quotes, etc to your otherwise boring (only to look at, i'm sure ;P ) posts, PMs, profiles, etc. To use it, you can either user the built in editor (more on that later), or type it in manually (much quicker in my opinion, but it's up to you). If you choose the second option, or you just want to know what everything means (would be advisable, although you'll pick it up pretty quickly if not anyway), i have added a list of all bb-code tags that work on this forum at the bottom of the post.
Built-in Editor:
The simplest way to add bb-code to your posts, but a few people still have some problems with it. To change your font, font size (to no more than 5 please), font colour (for emphasis, not to make every post you make unreadable), and to make it bold, underlined, italic, sub-script, super-script, or strikethrough, highlight your text (this is the bit most people don't do) then click on the right button for it. Once again, make sure you highlight the text before pressing any buttons. Sometimes, it deselects the text after you've done something, so just make sure.
To insert an image or add a link, press the appropriate box, then fill in the prompts. If you only want to post the URL and don't want to chagne what the link says, you can simply type/paste the URL into the post and it will automatically be turned into a link.
The pull-down menu box that says "Insert Special Item" will open a new window for any of the options you choose in there.
BB-Code Tag List:
Below is a list of every bb-code tag supported on this forum, with an example under each. I have put the examples in code boxes to stop the forum from changing them.
This is the same as the code tags, but it has scrolling bars. This is so long sections of code don't take up as much space.
