Yeah, he is good. I won't deny that, but I can sit here and post Opera and Classical singers all day long that blow Anthony Green out of the water. Actually I already did.
Opera singers and rock singers are two different to really compare. Perhaps I was unclear with my own intention behind my posting... I'm not suggesting Anthony Green is the worlds greatest vocalist, I'm merely suggesting that he's 'rock music's greatest vocalist' and to further expand upon this, he is the best we know of... so perhaps there are better singers out there but as far as I can tell Anthony has this area of music very well covered.
Anthony is after all self taught. Imagine for a minute just what would happen if he under went world class classical training... I'm sure most of you realize the possibilities would be seemingly endless. What it all comes down to is that he is able to literally do the impossible; hit extremely difficult notes without having to rely on any sort of vocal technique, much impart to the over whelming strenght and depth of his natural voice. An ability such as this is extremely rare to say the very least.
I also think many of you seem to take his screaming abilities very lightly as well. I've been a vocalist for the better part of 8 years and although I may not be very experienced in the field of singing I'm very experienced when it comes to screaming. Just because you can sing doesn't mean you'll be able to scream or vice-versa... Jonny Craig for example: great singer, not so great screamer. Jacob Bannon: amazing screamer, very weak singer. I myself am able to sing and scream however, although I'm able to control my screams very well as far as pitch is concerned, adding any sort of melody or variation to them is extremely difficult and this is something which Anthony (along with a very, very select few others) can do seemingly effortlessly.
Keep in mind that when you scream correctly projection is heightened by up to 50 percent over the height of projection reached through your singing voice. Lung strenght and lung capacity are key, just the same as ones ability to control. As most of you know, power and control are in constant conflict and most of the time you are forced to let one give way to the other... the harder you push the more power forces control to waver. The more you limit the more control...etc Anthony is able to ignore this almost completely through his screaming. In short, melodic screaming is very, VERY difficult and should never be taken lightly. It's hard enough to maintain a decent amount of pernounciation and clarity while screaming, adding melody into the mix takes it to the next level entirely... and believe me, I would know!
So to be fair to Anthony you have to look at him as a complete package. Meaning: you can't just look at one of his bands, nor can you just look at his singing abilities without even consiering his screaming abilities... when you weigh everything at the same time it's absolutely astounding. Literally no one else is as accomplished in both screaming and singing as Anthony Green has proven himself to be. Sure there may be a few individuals who may be better than him in one of those areas but CERTAINLY not in both, and that is why I hold the man is such high reguard.
