Get a brain.
If your "friend" would tell you it's fun to break all your bones - would you do it?

Just a bit stupid...I don't quite get why he is doing it either. Plus if he says he's fun i'd avoid hanging around with him.

He needs to accept help though. Tell him he's being a fool, and that cutting only feels good if you're fucked up. He's either doing it for attention or he's fucked up, either way, he shouldn't be telling you to do it. I've never known anyone who has a problem like that try to pass it on to someone else...not even the attention seekers. That's pretty fucked up what he's doing.

If you're are that close, just tell him if he don't quit the cutting, you don't want to hang out with him anymore

Quite right. He hasn't got a problem, except the problem of not having enough attention so has to be a bum boy about it.

It kind of makes sense, but when you were doing it did you not think about how much your self harm was hurting them, and did the hurt they were feeling not hurt you?

I have to say, rarely does anyone want to admit to cutting if they truly enjoy it and want to continue cutting, they go to insane lengths to hide it. I say call them an attention whore. People who exploit things like cutting for attention deserve the scars (if they even cut good) and having to explain/lie about the cuts/scars.

Plus, not caring, or calling them out on there "fake" or "poser" cutting will make them feel so un-loved that they will truly experience the pain that people with real problems have. Only once they are in a place where cutting becomes neccesary to carry on do they deserve help.

Plus, just like drugs, after a while, cutting doesn't achieve the desired "high" (best word I can think of right now, cut me some slack) and they'll either lose hope completely, or they'll try and go crazier with self harm, that is also a point to intervene.

And yes, I realize the OP will probably never see this, as his post was almost a month ago, and he isn't a regular. I wrote this on the off-chance that someone in his situation see his thread, and read my post, and maybe my insight/opinion would help give them a direction to go in.

He just wants attention, you don't want people to know, or you might want the help but you afraid to tell them. Belive me only one person knows about me and thats cause they pulled up my jacket sleeve. (note I am not counting the internet with this)

And the fact that he says it's fun proberly just means he's a masakist and will grow up to be one of thouse people who like being whipped and stuff.

I believe this was resolved awhile back... and, for the record, it's masochism
