Anthony Green is awesome.
But he has two pitches:
High and beautiful.
Angry and passioned.
No variety in his vocals.

How can you say his vocals have no variety? The man can literally hit any note he wants... and no two of his projects sound the same. He's probably one of THE most versitial vocalists out there.
I'll have Meg comment further on this... she knows way more about singing than I do. Anyone who has a good amount of experience will be quick to tell you that Anthony is on an entirely different level when compared to most other vocalists that a decent amount of people think of as 'good.'

Anthony Green's coloratura is by far the best I've heard...ever.
Yes, it is true that those are only 'two pitches'. Why? Because they're too general! You can clearly narrow it down even further. But for the sake of the argument, let's just zoom in to what you've provided.
Let me ask this: do you even know what building blocks it requires to attain such pitches?
Just by examining the first minute of the song "Holding Someone's Hair Back", despite its structure (some parts have almost every note of a syllable different from the previous and the next) it blows my mind how he hits every single note perfectly without taking a snatch-breath, or the aid of falsetto, crescendo, and decrescendo which most vocalists rely on whenever they're "trying" to sing similar structures. Sure de/crescendo and falsetto are all good techniques for adding texture to the song and not to mention a good way to make a singer's job somewhat easier and avoid being flat/sharp. But guess why Anthony didn't use them... because he didn't need to! He flawlessly hit every single damn note just by using his natural voice and was still able to add texture to the song. And may I remind you that that's what Anthony can do only in a minute. Guess what he can do all through out an entire album!
If you don't know what it takes to make something, tangible or not; you won't be able to fully appreciate how it's done. If you do, then there is no doubt in my mind that Anthony Green will most certainly put you in inescapable and perpetual awe.
In short, you don't know shit about singing let alone appreciation. Oh well!
There. Yah happy now?

Anthony Green only has two ways of ***ing singing. He literally goes from soft crooning, to a higher pitched angry tone. That’s all he’s got folks. Sure, some of the effects make it sound like he’s got more range, but in the end he’s either slightly-pissed off or getting ready for a Celine Dion concert. He’s certainly got a unique, catchy, and great voice, but if he can’t learn to make it a bit more varied, he’s going to have to stick to singing one song on The Sound of Animals Fighting albums.

...we can now safely say Anthony Green is just trying to take advantage of a unique voice without really trying to push it, which is a crying shame.
And I fail to see why this should be stickied other than the Mod seems to fap to this guy a lot.

I don't recall calling him a bad singer, simply having little to no variety between angry and soft.
Yet you just got proven wrong. He has tons of variety. You saying otherwise just tells me that you have an untrained ear...

...yeah and?
To be honest there are a few other AG related topics that were old and considering old topics get randomly bumped from time to time I figured I'd make an official AG thread and sticky it to avoid having more than one active AG topic.
Besides, it's Anthony Green... does one really need an excuse to sticky a topic about him? ...I think not because he's just that amazing.

It sounds like that...for a pair of untrained ears! Anthony's got a very distinct voice and unlike most singers, he doesn't really use any techniques mainly because he can pull anything off without using a single one. Also, I doubt that he needs effects to make it 'seem' like he has a vast range. Pushing quality aside, there are little to no differences between studio and live versions vocal-wise. Seriously though, this man does have quite an impressive range.
Quote
*facepalm* He's not taking advantage of anything specially of his voice for he actually knows how to use it. And he doesn't have to 'push it' as well for he can already practically do anything.

You not being able to see the reason 'why' just proves that you just lack knowledge (regarding this subject at least) to ultimately realize what he's got and what he's capable of compared to other people's abilities.
So he deserves a sticky for merely being good?
There are plenty of better artists that deserve stickies, if they're just made for putting on good bands/artists.
Can I get a Miles Davis sticky in the house?

Ningage you need to STFU. The only 'fail' in this post is you continuing to talk out of your ass about a subject you couldn't even be bothered to learn the basics of. Meg has already proven you wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt, and if you keep up this nonsense of yours I promise you that you won't like the outcome.

Simply because he can hit a lot of notes in the little tones he uses doesn't automatically give him tons of variety.

I don't really consider your balderdash "points" for you can't even supply concrete evidences or at least a legitimate explanation to support your poppycock declarations simply because there is none. Hence there's really nothing for me to prove wrong for you don't have shit in your hands and not to mention your brain...granted you have one that is.

Your sad attempts to be smart and be the 'cool new elitist' really is bad. And to the point where I start to feel sorry for you.

Yeah, because once you're good at something, you never have to try harder to be better, because you are obviously not making terrible excuses for him.

The lengths your willing to go to make excuses and defend your overrated singers goes into the part where it's either really hilarious or really pathetic.
Ningage, on Oct 16 2009, 04:17 PM, said:
Again, if all it takes to get a sticky is to be good, we should have much, MUCH better people than Anthony Green being stickies to accompany him up there. It's unnecessary.
Ningage, on Oct 16 2009, 04:17 PM, said:
Sure, he's a good singer, but the majority of his songs are just uninspired in the end.
